This series of webinars focuses on boosting reading comprehension. Reading is a highly complex cognitive process that integrates prior knowledge with new information to create meaning from text. The ultimate goal of all reading is comprehension.

Discover why writing can be one of the most cognitively demanding tasks we undertake and learn strategies to help pupils overcome these challenges. We will delve into the complexities of transcription and composition and uncover why some children might struggle with writing.
An evidence-based early language CPD that has been designed to enable participants to gain an understanding of ‘typical’ language development, help teachers to identify children who may not be developing language skills as expected and provide practical classroom skills and techniques for quality first teaching in Reception and Key Stage 1.

Kirstie qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist and specialised in the Early Years before training as a teacher. Her experience, learning and people she met along the way led her to develop the Launchpad for Literacy Toolkit. She now works with Local Authorities, MATs, DfE English Hubs, schools and PVI Settings on topics relating to Speech, Language & Communication, SLCN, SEND, Early Literacy and EYFS practice with a strong focus on gap identification and gap closing.
